The 23rd Power Engineering Conference was organized by the University of Maribor, the University of Ljubljana, the Energy Agency of Podravje and the TECES Research and Development Centre of Electrical Machines and took place in Maribor, Slovenia, from May 13th until May 15th 2014.
The emphasis of this years conference was dedicated to smart buildings, smart grids and smart cities, and the interconnection and interaction between them. The conference was addressed to experts from the fields of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture and Chemical Engineering.
Reinhard Padinger from JOANNEUM RESEARCH participated in the conference and was invited to present the INCREASE project in its current stage. The interest was great, as the INCREASE project deals with important questions concerning the thematic of the conference and promises important contributions to solve the problems, coming up with an increasing use of decentralized renewable energy sources.
One of the contributions, very interesting for the INCREASE project, was the presentation of Primož SUKIČ, “Efficiency of Inverters in Solar Power Plants with Reactive Power Generation”, in which options of voltage control by reactive power generation using inverters of solar power plants were discussed in terms of their losses in comparison with other technical options.
Further exchange of views in the running project was planned with the organizers of the conference as well as with the competence centre OpComm in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
