Dear
readers,
The FP7 project INCREASE (Increasing
the penetration of renewable energy sources in the distribution grid by
developing control strategies and using ancillary services) was
initiated in September 2013. The project duration is 40 months, the
project focuses on how to manage renewable energy sources in LV and MV
networks and provide ancillary services (towards DSOs but also TSOs).
More information at: http://www.project-increase.eu.
This newsletter will not only give you information on ongoing
initiatives, policy news, past and upcoming events but also an overview
of the project results.
With best regards,

INCREASE
had its final event on the 11th and 12th
of October 2016 in Ljubljana
as part of the ISGT conference 2016. The event had the motto:
"From enabling more renewables in distribution grids to developing
new
business models". On 11th of October a session
took place presenting
the technical solutions for INCREASE, on the next day (12th
of October)
in total 3 sessions were organized, including a session that gave
insights also into the field trials and the economic solutions. In the
last session other related projects like EvolvDSO, IDEAL and DREAM were
presented. A final roundtable and a poster presentation completed the
day. The final roundtable aimed to answer important issues regarding a
possible future decentralized electricity system.

INCREASE
Field Trials:
A brief insight into the Austrian field trial
The Austrian field trial is meant to test and evaluate the performance
of the INCREASE local control for mitigation of voltage unbalances. For
the purpose of the field trial, Energienetze Steiermark (ENS) provided
a PV installation, located at the roof of their main administration
building in Graz, Austria. More specifically, the PV inverters, located
at the 10th floor were used. 6 single-phase
inverters provide a nice
playground to test mitigation of the voltage unbalances using
controllable PV inverters with INCREASE unbalance control.
More information about the successful
results of the Austrian
field trial is available here.
