Increasing the penetration of renewable energy sources in the distribution grid by developing control strategies and using ancillary services.

Dear readers,

The FP7 project INCREASE (Increasing the penetration of renewable energy sources in the distribution grid by developing control strategies and using ancillary services) was initiated in September 2013. The project duration is 40 months, the project focuses on how to manage renewable energy sources in LV and MV networks and provide ancillary services (towards DSOs but also TSOs). More information at:

This newsletter will not only give you information on ongoing initiatives, policy news, past and upcoming events but also an overview of the project results.

With best regards and best wishes for the Christmas period.

INCREASE Final technical workshop in Duiven, Netherlands

INCREASE had its final technical workshop on the 28th November 2016 in Duiven, at the Alliander Office, entitled: Increasing the penetration of distributed renewable energy sources in the distribution grid - Experience from field trials. This final workshop aimed to share the experiences in the field trials of the project as well as with similar smart grid (demonstration) projects. The focus was on technological solutions to increase the hosting capacity of the infrastructure to integrate more Distributed Renewable Energy Sources (DRES).

NCREASE meetings and presentations during the past 3 months

The Mediterranean Conference on Power Generation, Transmission, Distribution and Energy Conversion belongs to a series of conferences that have established a major energy platform in the region. The conference focused on topics of interest to the Electric Power Industry. It intends to address the significant technological changes in all areas of the electric energy including business, products, equipment and methods.

INCREASE was present with a panel session on the 7th of November 2016 entitled Testing voltage control solutions in the lab: what are the challenges?
